Described as the new enfant terrible of fashion entrepreneurship and a creator to the end of her fingertips, Sicilian-born Francesca Marotta draws directly from her Sicilian, Native American, Mediterranean, North African, Middle Eastern and Ashkenazi Persian ancestry.
She embraces and embodies these cultures in the way she imagines, develops and creates her work.

Her instinct for design, concept and couture began at the age of four.
By ten, she was teaching herself to design and sew clothes for her younger sister’s dolls, already giving every piece an individual edge and an unmistakably different touch.

A designer in the soul, a Londoner at heart and Sicilian in the skin, Francesca is one of the rare designers whose practice is completely hands-on.
She knows how to sew, alter, press and construct garments, and remains involved from the first design and the selection of textiles through production, presentation and the final show.

Her work is grounded in a thorough understanding of fashion, garment construction, craftsmanship and textiles, combined with the work ethic, creative vision and strength that give her designs their distinctive “je ne sais quoi”. Conceptual, trendsetting and avant-garde, she does not wait for other people’s inspiration before daring to be different.

This is a label for those who want to stand out, make a statement and wear something with a clear point of view.

Her designs and creations have received numerous awards in the United Kingdom, France including Talons Aiguilles and the Best Young Designer Award Turkey, with a Young Designer Award, and Italy, with the Praemium Award.

She has presented work at London Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, Philadelphia Fashion Week, Istanbul’s Marmara Fashion Week, Made in Medi Fashion Week in Italy and Los Angeles Fashion Week, as well as in Oakland, Lille, Liège, Dublin and Osaka.

The Francesca Marotta label has been worn by Lauryn Hill, Natalie Dormer, Natasha Bedingfield, Jessie J, Ana Matronic, Whitney Port, Andreja Pejić, Skin of Skunk Anansie, Jhené Aiko, Karrueche Tran, Kristin Knox, Kelly Brook, Irina Lazareanu and Jodie Kidd.

As a wardrobe designer, her principal collaborations have included cinematographers Michael Seresin, Vanya Peirani-Vignes, Jude Campbell AD and Francesco Caradonna, as well as Toni Castells on his opera “Life from Light”.

She continues to work internationally through guest designing and creative consultancy.
