Francesca Marotta
Francesca’s mentoring and teaching draw on an international career spanning fashion design, garment construction, styling, editorial direction, consultancy, creative direction, visual merchandising, broadcasting, journalism, production, events and publishing.
Her knowledge is not theoretical: it comes from designing, sewing, altering, pressing, producing, directing, casting, presenting work internationally and building independent creative ventures from concept to completion.
Over the course of her mentoring career, Francesca has mentored creatives from some of the world’s leading fashion and design institutions, including Central Saint Martins; London College of Fashion; Condé Nast College; London Metropolitan; Parsons School of Design; Istituto Marangoni; the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Odisha, India; FIDM, Los Angeles; the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp; ESMOD Dubai and ESMOD Tokyo; The Fashion Design Institute, UAE; and FAD Dubai, among many others. This represents only a selection from a much longer international list.
Her business mentoring combines practical industry knowledge with creative strategy. She can guide designers, stylists, editors, image-makers, entrepreneurs and emerging creative professionals through the realities of concept development, craftsmanship, textiles, branding, editorial positioning, production, presentation and long-term career development. Her experience ranges from award-winning collections and international fashion weeks to publications, celebrity work, corporate clients, live events and her own publishing ventures.
Her mentoring is also shaped by the personal qualities repeatedly associated with her work: commitment, creative vision, strength, generosity and evident pleasure in the act of making. She is the kind of creative person whose process others can spend hours observing, someone whose talent and work invite appreciation and admiration. Often described as having the Midas touch, she brings that same energy to helping others recognise their strengths, sharpen their ideas and turn creative ambition into work with purpose and distinction.
